Toshiba LA4168

The LA4168 is a single chip tape recorder solution manufactured by the Toshiba Corporation. This IC has built-in preamplifiers for the audio head and microphone, and power amplifiers for the loudspeaker and headphone output.

Circuit

Pin 12 drives a loudspeaker directly. This IC also drives the motor directly through pin 16, and the VOR circuitry is within this IC. There is also a LED driver on pin 24, which lights when the motor powers up. The chip also has a continuously variable monitor level and AGC circuit.
